STEREOMICROSCOPE

My stereomicroscope used is an old C. Zeiss SMXX, where with the 20X occulars over 100X magnification can be reached. It has incident light for picking foraminifera from the sediment and transmitted light from below to make possible the wet picking of living foraminifera.

COMPOUND MICROSCOPE

The  transmittent light microscope is also an old Nfpk C. Zeiss microscope with good optics, where well over 1000X magnification can be reached with using immersion oils. Nicols can be crossed for analysing calcite discs of calcareous nannoplankton for biostragraphy.
